Nationality/Passport requirements:

  • The World Team Trials process is open to all athletes eligible to represent the United States of America at the World Championships as governed by United World Wrestling (UWW) and USA Wrestling (USAW) rules.
  • Athlete must have completed USA sporting nationality with UWW prior to the athlete's World Team Tryout event.

 

 

Contestants are randomly drawn by computer.
 

The current rules of UWW will govern the event and the competition (except bracketing procedures).  Tech falls will be a difference of 10 points for freestyle and 8 points for Greco.

 

** An injured athlete will have until one hour after the end of his first day of competition to announce his injury to the UWW Doctor.  For all the other type of injuries or diseases that happen out of competition, the concerned athlete will have to attend the second weigh-in otherwise he will be eliminated of the competition and the ranked last, without rank.

Video Review will be conducted on quarterfinals, semi-finals, finals, medal matches, and consolation semi-finals.  

 

U23 Division: Wrestlers from the same club will be separated. This division will employ double-elimination line bracketing with wrestle-backs to third place. 

  • At weigh-ins and registration, please check to make sure that the level listed is correct. If it is not, be sure to tell the head table workers and the problem will be resolved.
  • U20 will wrestle two - 3 minute periods with 30 second rest as per UWW rules.

For U23 Pan American selection, team selection will be determined by following rank order (1-8) results at the U23 Nationals (Geneva, OH).

USA Wrestling is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all participants, including athletes, coaches, officials, and fans. All individuals attending or participating in USA Wrestling events are expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, integrity, and respect.

The following standards apply to all coaches, spectators and athletes at USA Wrestling events:

  • Coaches, spectators and athletes are entitled to enjoy the wrestling experience free from disruptive or inconsiderate behaviors or unruly actions.
  • Coaches and spectators may not interfere with the event and/or athletes in any manner.
  • Coaches, spectators and athletes shall refrain from using abusive language or obscene gestures.
  • Coaches, spectators and athletes may not engage in fighting, throwing objects, or other behavior deemed detrimental to the experience of others. Individuals engaging in such actions will be immediately ejected from the event.
  • Coaches, spectators and athletes are encouraged to report inappropriate behavior to event or venue staff.
  • Coaches, spectators and athletes shall comply with requests from venue staff and USAW event staff regarding venue operational and emergency procedures.
  • Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in ejection from the venue without refund and may include further disciplinary action.
