1.    National Team selection

A.    Top 4 from State tournament 2024

B.   Top 6 from Regional tournaments (automatic spot) 2024

C.   Top 8 from UWW National tournaments (automatic spot) 2024

D.  Top 8 from 16U/Junior Nationals (automatic spot) 2023

D.    No wrestler not meeting above criteria in both styles should be allowed to do both styles. 

Must qualify in both styles to wrestle in both styles. (16U/JR)

If an athlete does not qualify through our state tournament they must attend a regional tournament (16U/JR) to wrestle for Iowa in the 16U/Jr National Tournament.

A $200 Deposit will be required to hold your spot on the team or the Director(s) may move to the next athlete with the highest criteria to fill the team.

2. Automatic Qualifier – Junior & 16U Nationals

The following shall serve as automatic qualifiers at Junior & 16U Nationals and shall not count against any roster limit:

A.    Current year 1st-6th Place at USA Wrestling Regionals (placement must be in the same age and style)

B.    Current year 1st-8th Place at U15 Nationals (placement must be in the same style)    

C.    Current year 1st-8th Place at UWW Cadet Nationals (placement must be in the same style) 

D.    Current year 1st-8th Place at UWW Junior Nationals (placement must be in the same style) 

E.    Previous year 1st-8th Place at Junior Nationals (placement must be in the same style)

F.    Previous year 1st-8th Place at 16U Nationals (placement must be in the same style)

G.     Previous year World Team Member

3. Teams for the Junior National Duals will be selected based on the following criteria:  

1. UWW Age Level World Medalist

2. Junior National Champion

3. 16U/UWW Cadet National Champion 

4. Junior National Place Winner

5. UWW Junior World Team Member 

5. 16U/UWW Cadet National Place Winner 

Results are style specific, folkstyle results are not included. If teams cannot be decided by the above criteria, the freestyle and Greco state tournaments, PIN data and Regional results from this year will be used to fill the team. Results from last year may n

4.    Teams for the 16U National Duals will be selected based on the following criteria:

A. UWW Age Level World Medalist

B. 16U/Junior National Champion 

C. U17 National Champion 5 points

D. 16U/Junior National Place Winner 

E. U17 National Place Winner 

F. 14U/U15 National Champion 

I. U15 National Place Winner

5.    KIDS FS/GR

Kids Nationals: Must attend Regional or State tournament to attend kids nationals FS/GR

14U National Duals Team Selection Criteria (folkstyle not included)

1. 2023 USAW 14U Nationals All-American (Farmington, UT)

2. 2024 UWW U15 Nationals All-American (Las Vegas, NV)

3. 2024 IA/USAW State Tournament

   1. Remaining spots will be decided on the following criteria

      1. 2024 Northern Plains Regional

      2. 2024 Local Freestyle/Greco-Roman Tournaments

Athletes with the highest criteria will be able to select a weight class in which they would like to compete. All state champs will be offered a spot on the team. Changing weights after the State Tournaments may forfeit your spot on the roster. Coaches will determine lineups for individual duals.
