The current rules of UWW will govern this event. UWW Cadets will wrestle two two-minute periods.
Contestants are randomly drawn by computer.

UWW U23: Brackets with five (5) or less will use the nordic system (everyone wrestles everyone). The top two finishers in the line bracket will compete in a best 2 out of 3 series match to determine the UWW Cadet world team member, with the bout the top two finishers competed against one another during the nordic system counting as the first match in the best 2 out of 3 series.
Brackets with six (6) or more will use Line Bracketing.

The U23r division will be separated based on the following criteria:

Level One: World Team Medalist and or US Open Senior Women's Champion
Level Two: WCWA Champion, UWW Junior Women's Freestyle Champion, and/or US Open Senior Women's 2nd-8th place finisher.
Level Three: WCWA 2nd-4th and or UWW Junior Women's Freestyle 2nd-4th. 

 


UWW Junior Division: Brackets with five (5) or less will use the nordic system (everyone wrestles everyone). The top two finishers in the line bracket will compete in a best 2 out of 3 series match to determine the UWW Cadet world team member, with the bout the top two finishers competed against one another during the nordic system counting as the first match in the best 2 out of 3 series.
Brackets with six (6) or more will use Line Bracketing.

The UWW Junior division will be separated based on the following criteria:

Level One: National Junior Division and above National Champion
Level Two: Previous Junior National and above 2nd-8th place finisher.
Level Three: National 16U Division and above National Champion

Level Four Wrestlers from the same state will be separated.
True second place matches shall be removed at Folkstyle Nationals for Junior and 16U divisions.


UWW Cadet Division: Brackets with five (5) or less will use the nordic system (everyone wrestles everyone). The top two finishers in the line bracket will compete in a best 2 out of 3 series match to determine the UWW Cadet world team member, with the bout the top two finishers competed against one another during the nordic system counting as the first match in the best 2 out of 3 series.
Brackets with six (6) or more will use Line Bracketing. 

The UWW Cadet division will be separated based on the following criteria:

Level One: National 16U Division and above National Champion
Level Two: Previous 16U National and above 2nd-8th place finisher.
Level Three: Wrestlers from the same state will be separated.


8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U Divisions: One pool will be used for brackets with fewer than six (6) competitors and Line Bracketing will be employed if there are six (6) or more entrants in any given weight class. Wrestlers from the same state will be separated.

 

National Federation of State High School Association scoring rules with USA Wrestling modifications will govern the competition. These USA Wrestling modifications include the following:

- Headgear is REQUIRED for wrestlers 14U and younger

- Mouth guards are not required for wrestlers (even wrestlers with braces)

- Rest time in between matches is a minimum of 15 minutes

- A match can be started when a wrestler does not have a coach

- The double arm bar with sit out is illegal for 14U age division and down

USA Wrestling rules governing ages, weights and match time will take precedence where applicable. Video Review
Video Review will be conducted for UWW U15, UWW Cadets, UWW Juniors, and UWW U23 quarter-finals, semi-finals, finals, medal matches, and consolation semi-finals.  


True Second Process
In accordance with the Women’s Sport Committee decision, USA Wrestling will not allow true second matches to take place at any Cadet or Junior National Competitions due to the risk of injury and high volume of matches within the same day competition.
