Event Summary & Features: This is a BRAND NEW inaugural event for the 2026-27 wrestling season, co-sponsored between Bemidji Wrestling Club and MN/USA Wrestling to add more opportunities and exposure to boys and girls wrestlers across Northern Minnesota and beyond! It will include two tournaments including:
Arrival: Park in main parking lot outside main entrance
Registration: This tournament will be PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY with registration deadline on 11/13/26 @ 8pm via usabracketing.com. NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION. Cost is $20 per entry, via pre-registration online only.
REGISTRATION LINK: Register HERE (by 11/13 @ 8pm) by visiting the event on usabracketing.com. MN/USA Bemidji Folkstyle Preseason Qualifier, Girls Open & Boys/Girls Duals Team Tournament
Check-Ins / Weigh-Ins: See the schedule below for check-in timing. ALL wrestlers must check-in as they enter the event and you will be notified if you have been marked for a weight audit. Instead of full weigh-ins, there will be random weight audits per session (essentially a partial “Honor System”). During registration, parents will enter the weight of their wrestler during registration in the "actual weight" field. Enter a weight for your wrestler so as not exceed 3% above the weight entered on tournament day (if weight audited). For example, if the parent pre-registered their wrestler at 50lbs, their wrestler can weigh no more than 51.5lbs. Failing a weight audit risks tournament forfeiture without refund. If you leave the event and pull out of competition, you must inform the tournament director so you can be pulled from the event.
Age Divisions: Age divisions for all MN/USA events use the USAW 2 year birth year ranges, as follows (for the 2026-27 season): 6U = Birth Year 2021-2022, 8U = Birth Year 2019-2020, 10U = Birth Year 2017-2018, 12U = Birth Year 2015-2016, 14U = Birth Year 2013-2014.
Eligibility/Memberships: Full year / athlete USAW memberships OR 1 Day/Singlet Event Membership is required to register. The single event membership feature will be enabled by 10/20/26 for those without full year USAW athlete memberships.
*Qualifier Division: All qualifier division participants will accumulate qualification points towards MN/USA Regional Tournaments (for the 10U and 12U divisions) and qualification points toward MN/USA State Tournament (for the 6U qualifier & 8U qualifier divisions). All 14U qualifier participants are auto-qualified to the MN/USA State tournament, hence this an open division. Across MN/USA qualifier division results, 1st = 40 points, 2nd = 25 points, 3rd = 10 points. However, the Bemidji Qualifier features "Double Points" toward Region/State qualification, where the 1st-3rd place result values double (to 80, 40, and 20 respectively). All results also aid PIN ratings that will help influence seeding criteria at Regions/State as well. All participants in the qualifier division will also accumulate "REPS" points, with the top 10 in each age group awarded at the MN/USA banquet (recognized in the Fall of 2027). Bracketing will follow standard MN/USA qualifier division pairing procedures.
**Girls Only Division: There is no qualification points up for grabs within the Girls Division, as the MN/USA Girls State Individual Tournament remains an open tournament at the end of the folkstyle season. This division is reserved for females wishing to compete against girls only competitors. Bracketing will be focused on maximizing match opportunities based on age/weight as best as possible. The default age division groupings will be 6U-8U, 10U, 12U and 14U. Results translate into "REPS" points toward end of year awards in the Girls awards category.
Bracketing Format: Brackets will be created and grouped to make 4-man round-robin brackets when possible not to exceed >10% variance in weight class.
Schedule: Technology will be leveraged creating effeciencies and a session based format using USA Bracketing tournament software and PinTV scoreboards. See below for check-in timing for each age group/division.
Format: Following the completion of the individual tournament, a boys & girls dual team tournament will take place (across both gyms) and feature a 4 team round robin format (up to 4 teams for Girls + 4 teams for Boys) with a max of 3 duals per team.
Boys Dual Team Weight Classes: 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 72, 77, 84, 92, 100, 110, 120, 135, 215
