ROOKIE ELIGIBILITY

The Rookie Division is intended exclusively for 6U First-Year Wrestlers ONLY.

To be eligible for the Rookie Division, a wrestler must meet BOTH of the following requirements:

  1. The wrestler must not have held a USA Wrestling Athlete Membership prior to September 1, 2026; and

  2. The wrestler must not have competed in any wrestling tournament prior to September 1, 2026.

A wrestler who does not meet both requirements is not eligible for the Rookie Division and must compete in the appropriate Open Division.

For purposes of Rookie eligibility, prior tournament competition includes participation in any organized wrestling tournament, regardless of sanctioning organization or wrestling style.

ELIGIBILITY PROTESTS & ENFORCEMENT:

  • All eligibility protests must be submitted by email to nblevins@mtxeevents.com no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled start of the session in which the wrestler is registered to compete.
  • Protests must include documentation or other credible evidence supporting the eligibility challenge, including, when applicable, proof of age, prior tournament participation, or USA Wrestling membership history.
  • The Tournament Director will make the final determination regarding eligibility, and all decisions are final.
  • Any wrestler determined to be ineligible for the Rookie Division may be moved to the appropriate Open Division without prior notice, provided space is available. If placement in an appropriate Open Division is not possible, the wrestler may be removed from the event.
  • No eligibility protests will be accepted, and no division changes resulting from an eligibility protest will be made, within 24 hours of the scheduled start of the applicable session or after that session has begun.
