Weight Classes:

The entire event will be done in Madison style and matchups are determined at weigh in. 

Bracketing:

All brackets will be in USA Bracketing.

Uniform: 

Wrestlers are barefoot and compete in board shorts (without zippers or pockets that could catch) or rash guards/spandex. No shoes, jewelry, or greasy/oily substances on the skin are allowed. Singlets are allowed but not preferred.

8:00 AM to 8:45 AM (All Boys Age Groups)

9:30 AM Boys Start Wrestling

9:00 AM to 9:45 AM (All Girls Age Groups)

10:30 AM Girls Start Wrestling

Duration and Basic Rule:

The match consists of 1 period of 3 minutes for all age categories.

Beach wrestling is only practiced in standing position. The use of the legs is allowed in all actions.

Call and Start of the Matches:

Both wrestlers’ names shall be called in a loud clear voice. Wrestlers shall be called 3 times with at least a 30-second time interval between each call. If after the third call a wrestler has not checked in at the call area he/she shall be disqualified and default the match. A contestant cannot be called to compete in a new bout until a rest period of twelve (12) minutes has been completed from the conclusion of his/her preceding bout.

When their name has been called, the wrestlers shall stand in the spot corresponding to their assigned color and wait for the Call Area Manager to call them to his/her side. The Call Area Manager shall inspect their competition uniform. The Call Area Manager shall also inspect the wrestlers to make sure that their skin is not covered with any greasy or sticky substance, or with perspiration. After the Call Area Manager has completed his/her inspection, the two wrestlers can proceed to FOP where the central referee greets them and makes them shake hands and begin the match as the referee’s whistle.

Start and Restart Position:

Neutral position occurs at the beginning of the regular period and after all match interruptions. Both wrestlers stand opposite one another in the center of the ring and wait for the referee’s whistle to start wrestling.

Scoring for Actions and Holds during the bout:

1 point is the awarded to:

• The wrestler who manages to bring any of his opponent’s body part to the ground, except the hands.

• The wrestler who manages to bring any of his opponent’s body part out of the competition area.

• The wrestler whose opponent has received a caution for illegal action.

• The opponent of a wrestler designated as passive who fails to score points during the 30 seconds activity period.

• The wrestler whose opponent requested a challenge if the initial decision is confirmed.

Note: in actions such as a waist lock hip throw, or a frontal body lock, and similar attacking actions, where the attacker (and only the attacker) has their arms wrapped around the body of the defender, and for such reason the attacker’s forearms/arms may touch the sand before/simultaneously as the defender’s body, that isn’t considered as an infraction and shall not result in 1 point being awarded to the defender, provided that:

• The movement is continuous and executed with clear attacking intent,

• The action results in the defender being brought to the ground.

This clarification to the rules applies exclusively to the attacking wrestler. It aims to encourage dynamic, technically sound offensive actions without penalizing natural and controlled ground contact made during the execution of such actions.

3 points are awarded to:

• The wrestler who manages to expose his opponent’s back to the ground during a takedown or a throw.

End of the Match

The first athlete to 3 points wins the match. If there is a tie at the end of the match, the following criteria will be used to declare the winner:

• Last point scored

• Weight of the athletes*

• The lowest (smallest) number pulled during the draw.

* Their weights (at the official weigh-in of the concerned day) will be checked and the lighter (lightweight) one will be declared as the winner.

If a wrestler commits an obvious offence against fair play within the spirit and concept of total and universal wrestling enunciated by UWW, and openly cheats, commits a serious error or engages in brutality, he will be disqualified immediately from the competition and eliminated from the competition. In this situation, he will be placed last in the ranking, whiteout any rank and the note “Dsq” near to his name.

If two wrestlers are disqualified for brutality during the same match, they will be eliminated as above. The wrestler(s) supposed to meet one of the disqualified wrestlers will win the match by forfeit

Eligibility:

Athlete Membership: 

Wrestlers must enter their USA Wrestling Membership number when they register online. Wrestlers that do not have valid USA Wrestling Membership numbers will not be allowed to register. 

Wrestling Leader Membership:

 All coaches that wish to gain access to the competition floor to coach athletes must have a current USA Wrestling Leader Membership Card. All USA Wrestling Leader Membership Cards MUST be attained prior to the event, due to mandatory background checking.

All individuals attending or participating in USA Wrestling events are expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, integrity, and respect.

The following standards apply to all coaches, spectators and athletes at USA Wrestling events:

• Coaches, spectators and athletes are entitled to enjoy the wrestling experience free from disruptive or inconsiderate behaviors or unruly actions.

• Coaches and spectators may not interfere with the event and/or athletes in any manner.

• Coaches, spectators and athletes shall refrain from using abusive language or obscene gestures.

• Coaches, spectators and athletes may not engage in fighting, throwing objects, or other behavior deemed detrimental to the experience of others. Individuals engaging in such actions will be immediately ejected from the event.

• Coaches, spectators and athletes are encouraged to report inappropriate behavior to event or venue staff.

• Coaches, spectators and athletes shall comply with requests from venue staff and USAW event staff regarding venue operational and emergency procedures.

• Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in ejection from the venue without refund and may include further disciplinary action.
