The U17 Pan-Am Team Trials is a premier international qualifying event that will determine the U17 Men’s and Women’s Pan-American Teams representing the United States at the 2026 U17 Pan-American Championships. Top U17 athletes from across the country will compete for the opportunity to earn a coveted spot on Team USA and travel to Panama City, Panama, to compete against the best wrestlers from the Pan-American region on April 2–4, 2026. This event will determine the 2026 U17 Men's and Women's Pan-American Team and is a critical pathway for athletes seeking international competition experience at the highest level in their age group.

Come out to North Liberty, IA to watch the nation's top U17 athletes compete for a spot on Team USA and represent the United States on an international stage!

 

The U17 Pan American Championships are currently scheduled for April 2nd – 4th, 2026 in Panama City, Panama. A passport will be required, so it is highly recommended that you plan on securing a passport at your earliest convenience. USA Wrestling will work down the list in rank order. If for any reason an athlete can’t make the weight or does NOT have a passport, USA Wrestling reserves the right to take the necessary steps to fill the team as quickly as possible. This is a fully funded tour. If you are selected for the Pan-American team, you will need to secure a passport by Tuesday, March 17th.

Competition Format – U17 Pan American Qualifier

Bracketing:

  • The tournament will be conducted under a MODIFIED double-elimination line-bracketing format. Athletes who lose to Semifinalist will be placed in a repechage bracket.
  • The repêchage bracket will wrestle for a single Bronze medal in each weight category. Semifinal losers will also be placed in the modified repechage.
  • Brackets with five (5) or less will use the nordic system (everyone wrestles everyone). 
  • Brackets with six (6) or more will use Line Bracketing.
