Weigh-In Rules / Skin Checks:

Athletes need to be present at weigh-ins during their designated time as noted on the schedule within this document. Late arrivals outside the designated weigh-in end time will be scratched. No weight tolerance will be allowed for the singlet or two-piece uniform (for example a wrestler registered at 10U 73 lbs must weigh-in at 73.0 or less). If a wrestler fails to make their registered weight or their weight qualifies them for a lower weight class, then at the regional tournament only, they may move up to the next weight class or down to the corresponding weight class. Contestants must be in perfect physical condition, with their fingernails cut very short. Skin checks will also be conducted and must pass a skin check to compete. When presented at the scale the wrestler has the right (after two (2) attempts at the first scale) each in turn, to attempt to weigh in on all the official weigh-in scales. These attempts may be made one time only at each scale. No weight reduction methods of any kind can be made between attempts to make weight or in the weigh-in area, and once a wrestler enters the weigh-in area they are not allowed to leave and attempt to make weight at a later time.

  • Example & Option #1: Wrestler is registered at 10U 73lbs, but weighs in at 73.2 lbs. They are then eligible to compete in the next weight class at 76lbs. NOTE: If they qualify top 4, they would be locked into this weight class at MN/USA State.
  • Example & Option #2: Wrestler is registered at 10U 76lbs, and weighs in at 73.0 lbs. Since they made the 73 lbs weight class they are eligible to change weight classes to the 73lb weight class or stay at the 76 lb weight class.
  • Example & Option #3: If your wrestler misses the weight they registered for besides option #1 above, the final option would be to withdraw from the event (if they wish to try to make that weight at a different Regional tournament).

Weight Classes & State Qualification Rules: The weight wrestlers wrestle at and qualify Top 4 at that Regional, they are locked into that weight class for MN/USA State. Once wrestlers are qualified to MN/USA State, they cannot participate in any additional Regioal Tournaments.
