Rookie (First year wrestlers only), Novice, Open, and Girls

• Wrestlers may enter more than 1 Group if eligible based on experience level, but may not double enter in any Group.

Rookie Experience Level

• For first year wrestlers only who have not competing in any wrestling or grappling style prior to March 15th, 2022 

Novice Experience Level

•  2nd year wrestler; no wrestling match any style, anywhere, prior to March 15, 2021 or
•  3rd year wrestler that never placed top 6 in Open state or never placed 1st or 2nd in Novice State.
•  ALL Tots and D1 wrestlers are still classified as Novice regardless of any previous placements and/or years of experience.

Open Experience Level

• 3rd year wrestler that has placed top 6 in Open state or has placed 1st or 2nd in Novice State
• Must have competed in at least 3 TX-USAW events since November 1
  • D5 Open does not have any competition or weight class qualification requirements
• Must have weighed in at least 3 times at the weight class they wish to compete in at state or below the weight class they wish to compete at in state. 
  • Example #1 - Johnny weighed in at 70, 70, and 75 for his 3 events, he would only be eligible to compete at 75 or higher
  • Example #2 - Billy weighed in at 90, 90, 85, 80, 85, 90, then 90 in his events.  He has 3 weigh-ins at 85 or less, so he would be eligible to compete at 85 or higher regardless of the order fio when those weigh-ins 

Girls

• There are no weight class qualification for Girls
• There are no qualifiers required for Girls
