USA Wrestling is excited to announce that the 2020 USAW Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals will return to Hyvee Hall in Des Moines, IA on Oct. 30th - Nov. 1st. 

Brian Keck tragically passed away at the age 48 during a trip to Mexico in November, 2019. Keck worked with USA Wrestling to found the Preseason Nationals in 2008, a major early season national folkstyle wrestling event for athletes of all ages. The first event was held in Des Moines, then spent nine years in Cedar Falls, Iowa, before returning to Des Moines in 2018. During its 12 years with Keck’s involvement, the competition grew in size and prestige.

The event will be conducted following the requirements of the state and local health authorities, as well as using the safety provisions of the USA Wrestling Return to Events Guidelines. USA Wrestling and the local organizers will monitor data and local trends closely leading up to the event.


In an effort to mitigate COVID-19 and protect our members, everyone entering the venue must wear a mask and/or proper fitting face covering and be subjected to a daily screening through the Meenta App. You may also fill out the event questionnaire form as well if you are unable to sign up for Meenta. Anyone who does not comply with this will be asked to leave.

  • Sign up for a Meenta Safe account: this will require First and Last name, email, password, and USAW Membership ID number (Athletes, Coaches, and staff must put in membership id, spectators optional if you do not have USAW profile)
  • Click "Start Survey" and answer all the questions. 
  • Click the "Home" button after the survey is completed.
  • Click "Show QR Code" this is what you must present to the screeners on-site. No Exceptions!
  • The screening will need to show "Pass" and correct "Date/Time" and must be done daily before entering the venue.
  • You may also fill out a paper form daily on-site or bring it with you filled out, if you are unable to sign up for Meenta.

COACHES AND ATHLETES PLEASE BRING A COPY OF YOUR USAW MEMBERSHIP CARD WITH YOU TO THE EVENT. EVERY COACH AND ATHLETE WILL NEED TO BE BAR CODE SCANNED IN TO THE EVENT. 

Registration Caps for 2020*: 

11th-12th grade boys: 725 - SOLDOUT
9th-10th grade boys: 725 - SOLDOUT
7th-8th and 5th-6th grade boys: 725 SOLDOUT
3rd-4th grade boys and 9th-12th grade girls: 425 SOLDOUT
1st - 2nd grade boys and 1st-8th grade girls: 425 (190 spots left)

* based off schedule, so no more than 725 wrestlers are actively competing at one time. 

This event has sold out in previous years, so do not wait to register. USA Wrestling does not charge for adjusting weight classes, even at weigh-ins, so sign up early to guarantee your spot in the event.

At the direction of several committees and local health authorities we will be imposing a strict ONE (1) pre purchased spectator ticket per athlete registered. No exceptions! This does not include coaches’ passes. Coaches’ passes must be purchased online at www.usawmembership.com. 

Ticketing: Must purchase online in advance of the tournament. Each athlete will receive confirmation emails detailing instructions on how to purchase their one (1) spectator ticket. 

Hyvee Hall Policy- Wrestlers will be allowed to bring in drinks and snacks. Parents will NOT be permitted to bring in any food. NO OUTSIDE COOLERS ALLOWED.
